Whether you were a collegiate athlete or a high-level high school athlete, you are nostalgic for your old playing days and are looking to reignite that “feeling” (you know what we are talking about). You haven’t stopped playing and look for any chance to hop into a pick-up game. You think about your pre-game preparation and post-game recovery. You have a strong grasp of the fundamentals and have a high sport IQ. When you step onto the court, you play to win, and expect others to bring that same level of intensity and competitiveness. You hope your coach can help you make minor adjustments to your play, so that you can maximize your contribution to the team.
You are a forever athlete. You want to compete, but your day won’t be ruined if you lose, so long as you gave it your best effort. You played throughout high school and have a solid understanding of the rules. You’ve continued to look for ways to play as an adult in other leagues. You understand you might not be able to play at the level you once did and accept your limitations. You value teamwork and support the idea that everyone should have an opportunity to play. You hope your coach can draw up a play at the end of the game to give you a shot at winning.
You are an all-around athlete and play for the love of the game. It has been awhile since you’ve played organized sports and you might be asking yourself if you are really ready to suit up again. You know you will need to freshen up on the fundamentals, but you have a baseline understanding of the rules and of course a competitive spirit. You want to get in a good workout and are excited to play alongside your colleagues. You may have played before, but it’s been a long time; you may have never played before because the opportunity wasn’t available to you; or, you may want to freshen up your skills to prepare for a WFA Pro or Club League experience.
