Sojern and Coach Babbidge fired up after their first win
After MLB won their first matchup by only two points, Sojern showed they’re not the same team they were just a few weeks ago and squeaked out a two-point victory of their own this time, 35-33.
MLB controlled everything in the first half. Jeff Paulo and Stephen Mueller racked up basket after basket off of forced turnovers on defense. They may have pushed the lead to an insurmountable amount, but MLB failed to convert on quite a few shots and layups early on. Sojern didn’t do themselves any favors either, missing free throws as they’ve done all season. After a shaky first half from both teams, MLB was comfortably ahead 18-10…
...or so they thought. Sojern came out of halftime like the stampeding cattle in The Lion King. Unfortunately for MLB, no one was there to save them from being (metaphorically) trampled. Led by Nicki Nardella’s above and beyond effort and ignited by her tenacity, underdog Sojern shocked MLB and MLB couldn’t recover. Alex Mortensen piled up 15 points and eight rebounds for Sojern, and Nardella and James Lockwood hit a couple big shots down the stretch to secure the W for their team. MLB will look to reverse their luck next week, as they’ve now lost two in a row.
